PBG PRESENTS SPANISH ARTISTS OKOKUME AND POL SEGURA’S FIRST DUO EXHIBITION IN SEOUL

Internationally Acclaimed artist Okokume opens Two Voices, One Path at PBG with her partner Pol Segura for the first time.

Globally renowned Spanish artist Okokume(b. 1985-) based in Barcelona, will showcase her work to Korean audiences at PBG. The exhibition Two Voices, One Path is a two-person show with her lifetime partner and artistic collaborator of 20 years Pol Segura(b. 1984-), and pays homage to the theme of “sharing”; the exhibition reflects on their intertwined lives and the process of finding balance through art.

This exhibition marks the first time they have expanded this “experience of sharing” beyond the studio and into a shared exhibition space. It highlights their individual artistic identities while also showcasing the solidarity and mutual respect that have long bound the two together.

Okokume’s iconic character ‘Cosmic Girl’ serves as a representative for her work and as a projection of her inner emotions; it is a mirror, and a guide for self-reflection. This character has evolved to embody key issues of contemporary society, such as the environment, emotions, and interconnectedness. This exhibition presents 23 works, including visually bolder depictions of Cosmic Girl by Okokume and the works Pol Segura, showing how two distinct artistic worlds can harmonize and enhance the beauty of one another.

Pol Segura(b. 1984-) is a fine artist whose work bridges nature and abstraction. He conveys a message of overcoming limitations, depicting plants as vibrant beings that stretch, walk, and dance within chaotic environments, symbolizing the journey of self-discovery. Influenced by artists like Willem de Kooning and Francis Bacon. In this exhibition, for the first time, he exhibits with his wife Okokume as a duo show in South Korea, and is expected to draw much attention.

"We had a deep discussion about what this exhibition would bring us, both as a couple and individually, all the pros and cons, as they say. We immediately saw that for us it’s already something very natural in our life and everything flowed at a normal pace."

LAURA MAS (OKOKUME)

Individual Statement

My work doesn't seek definitive answers. It moves, like me, between fragments, memories, and open questions. It's a process of constant observation—an emotional cartography where identity is always under construction.

Two bodies speak without words, changing shape between the soft strokes and colors. With the combination of warm and cold, I find the perfect blend to convey the transition between life stages: internal search, evolution, and emotional maturity. I don't intend to make a major change, just a transformation of what I have always shown: growing and finding myself reborn without ceasing to be who I have always been.

POL SEGURA

Individual Statement

It's a process that goes beyond the technical and the visible, in which I try to understand who I am as an artist and what I truly want to express through my work. It's not just about what the viewer sees on the surface, but what lies behind it—the reason for each gesture and decision.

For me, flowers are a powerful metaphor for growth and exposure. They, like human beings, experience natural cycles of transformation: opening, withering, and rebirth. They represent constant evolution, a continuous transition toward a new version of themselves, where the search for identity is always present. In that sense, these works become a way forward.

b. 1985, Mataró, Barcelona, Spain

Laura Mas Hernandez (b.1985; Mataró, Spain), known as Okokume, constructs fictive worlds to seek a universally resonant psyche for the contemporary audience. In her paintings, she explores alternatives to saturated presentations of womanhood, trauma, anxiety and the environmental crises in the media. Adopting a distinct graphic style, Okokume’s visual language reflects her positioning and identity, which is fostered by the internet, media, pop culture and an increasingly tight-knit international network.
