PBG PRESENTS SPANISH ARTISTS OKOKUME AND POL SEGURA’S FIRST DUO EXHIBITION IN SEOUL
Internationally Acclaimed artist Okokume opens Two Voices, One Path at PBG with her partner Pol Segura for the first time.
Globally renowned Spanish artist Okokume(b. 1985-) based in Barcelona, will showcase her work to Korean audiences at PBG. The exhibition Two Voices, One Path is a two-person show with her lifetime partner and artistic collaborator of 20 years Pol Segura(b. 1984-), and pays homage to the theme of “sharing”; the exhibition reflects on their intertwined lives and the process of finding balance through art. This exhibition marks the first time they have expanded this “experience of sharing” beyond the studio and into a shared exhibition space. It highlights their individual artistic identities while also showcasing the solidarity and mutual respect that have long bound the two together.
Okokume’s iconic character ‘Cosmic Girl’ serves as a representative for her work and as a projection of her inner emotions; it is a mirror, and a guide for self-reflection. This character has evolved to embody key issues of contemporary society, such as the environment, emotions, and interconnectedness. This exhibition presents 23 works, including visually bolder depictions of Cosmic Girl by Okokume and the works Pol Segura, showing how two distinct artistic worlds can harmonize and enhance the beauty of one another.
Pol Segura(b. 1984-) is a fine artist whose work bridges nature and abstraction. He conveys a message of overcoming limitations, depicting plants as vibrant beings that stretch, walk, and dance within chaotic environments, symbolizing the journey of self-discovery. Influenced by artists like Willem de Kooning and Francis Bacon, Segura draws inspiration from contemporary figures such as Marria Pratts and Robert Nava. In this exhibition, for the first time, he exhibits with his wife Okokume as a duo show in South Korea, and is expected to draw much attention.Okokume’s works have been acquired by esteemed collectors such as Tony Leung and Adrian Cheng. She is a graduate of Spain’s prestigious Llotja Advanced School of Art and Design, and has had her works exhibited in galleries and art fairs in Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, Los Angeles, Paris, and Berlin. Most recently, her newly released edition in Hong Kong sold out immediately, reaffirming her strong popularity. After Okokume’s first solo exhibition in Korea sold out entirely last year, the nation’s audience are now eagerly awaiting the upcoming exhibiton.

“We had a deep discussion about what this exhibition would bring us, both as a couple and individually, all the pros and cons, as they say. We immediately saw that for us it’s already something very natural in our life and everything flowed at a normal pace.”
